New development plans for SM Tether
Posted on May 21, 2012 | No CommentsAs WIA is very restrictive with the development of SM Tether, we plan to move the whole program on Java. This might take a while, but we know that we will be able to release many new functions (some that are not even in the camera). You will still be able to use this version for the moment. -
Time lapse 2 with SM Tether
Posted on June 13, 2011 | 18 CommentsThis time we did the images from our window (no wind involved and no good view). There are 475 images with 0.03 second display of each, no pause between them. Do you guys think that it would be a good feature to be able to do time lapse movies directly from SM Tether? -
Time lapse 1 with SM Tether
Posted on June 13, 2011 | No CommentsThis is a tryout for Time Lapse with the new SM Tether not yet available. The old one (v1.5) allows only 100 picture per time lapse (my bad, something in the code). We couldn’t do much because of the bad weather (stron wind, even with a bag of rocks on the tripod). We weren’t pleased with the people around either . -
Would you like to be a part of SM Tether?
Posted on May 5, 2011 | 5 CommentsIf you like SM Tether and you want to see more features added, help us! If you enjoy this software functionality and never wondered if it was hard to develop it, the answer to that never asked question is: YES, it’s hard. It’s hard because WIA is a pain in the … and has a lot of bugs. It’s hard because we have so little time now (we’re getting married in autumn) and so few resources (only a D3000) to... -
SM Tether Pro
Posted on April 6, 2011 | 31 CommentsWe are working very hard on a “commercial” version of SM Tether. I see from the poll results that some of you like it free, which does not surprise me since almost everybody wants everything free, no matter how much hard work is required. For those of you who said “Only if it’s really cheap”, I wanna now: how cheap are we talking here? 1$? 3$? I’m just asking now because the price might come as a surprise for you/... -
Version 1.5 is out
Posted on March 10, 2011 | 53 CommentsWe’ve just released version 1.5 of SM Tether with Exposure Bracketing function (for HDR images). For some reasons, the Exposure Compensation Value can’t be fully controled under Windows 7 and Windows Vista. A quick fix for this is to set your EV value to -2 and “push the button” on the HDR tab. On XP just click on “Take picture”. As far as I know, HDR works best in Aperture mode, so you know what you have to do from... -

Posted on March 4, 2011 | 7 CommentsSince last week we’ve started to implement a few new features: HDR picture (a series of images with the possibility of choosing EV steps and number of images) – DONE Bracketing (EV Bracketing, WB Bracketing and DOF Bracketing) More settings for the camera Live View Video recording Expanding to support other cameras These won’t be possible all at once and will be done one by one at least. -
Important update
Posted on March 3, 2011 | 1 CommentStarting from now, Nikontrol 3K becomes SM Tether, due some problems with the name association (Nikon – Nikontrol). Even if you will find this name (Nikontrol 3K) on over 23.800 sites, we officially announce that Nikontrol 3K is no longer a name associated with us (or anybody else for that matter) As before, we wish to remind you that this software’s functions are NOT DEVELOPED or SUPPORTED by Nikon Corporation. We are not and will never use Nikon’s SDK for... -
Hey look
Posted on February 22, 2011 | No CommentsSome of you really wanted this because it’s helpful. I don’t really use it, but since I’m not an expert in photography (just a novice) I won’t say a thing about it. So, I’m sure you can all see what it is, no need for me to shout “OH LOOK, HISTOGRAM!!!”. Oops You know, it’s really hard to sneak up behind my girl while she’s working and “steal” images, so please don’t say “what is this?”. It’s a really fuzzy... -
SM Tether v1.4 is out
Posted on February 21, 2011 | 22 CommentsWhat is new in v1.4? Fixed the default path for images (bug) Added “Full screen release mode” (still in test mode for display ratio issues) Added “Portable Shutter” for use of SM Tether with other programs (such as PhotoKey) Added image filename Remember, run SM Tether as administrator to avoid system permission deny. Download link is currently unavailable, we have to change the name and it will be there again very soon!
